Spark (Elemental #2) by Brigid Kemmerer

Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents.

Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.

More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake — this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.

Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.

The fuse is lit…

Ashen Winter (Ashfall #2) by Mike Mullin

It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this series. It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois. But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

  1. I loved Ashen Winter!!! SO cannot wait to read Spark :)

  2. It’s hard to pick a favorite PNB books because I am always finding news ones but one of my favorite is A Discovery of Witches. I liked all the different paranormal creatures.

I like all kinds of apocalypse scenario. Futuristic and ones involving cold winters (blizzards, cities freezing over) are interesting to read about.

I tweeted about your wonderful giveaway here: https://twitter.com/FieryNa/status/262679608133038080

  3. Hmmm.. my favorite PNR? I can’t choose between Jeaniene Frost and Nalini Singh. Those ladies write some awesome stories. I really enjoyed Vlad’s book, Once Burned.

  4. I have so many favorite PNR series but the ultimate one that got me started in this genre is Christine Feehan’s Carpathian Series!!!

  5. I have tons of favorite PNR books! A few are the Significance series by Shelly Crane and The Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout. As for apocalyptic scenarios, I like reading about people coming together in difficult circumstances, and I also like the ones that include paranormal elements, like The Immortal Rules and Vampire Apocalypse.

  6. There are a lot of great PNR books! I just can’t seem to pick my favorite!

    • as for the apocalyptic scenario… Anything is possible, I guess. and as long as it’s interesting, I’ll read it!
