How to tell if Author Shelly Laurenston is for you…
Are you:
- easily offended by swearing?
- Loud females?
- Alpha Males?
- Explicit sex scenes done tastefully :snickers:?
- If you answered yes, to any of those questions, then you might want to pass Shelly Laurenston by. If you find you laugh at crude humor, silly antics, over the top swearing, and absurdly male men, then read her books. They are fucking fantastic.
In an interview we just conducted with Shelly, I asked her about being funny. She says: “Depends who you talk to. Some people find me funny, some people want to stab me in the face. Funny’s subjective. I’ve had to accept that as an author. One man’s funny, is another’s “Oh, my God! Shut up!” Personally, I think I’m hilarious. Several past bosses and high school teachers, though, would probably disagree.
How to tell if Shelly Laurenston’s Magnus Pack Series might be right for you:
- You like interracial couples
- You like Inter-species couples
- Swearing doesn’t bother you. Even if it is excessive
- You enjoy reading about women who are not wilting wall flowers
- You like reading about hot smexing
- You like plot with your porn, as well as good characterization
In case you are still not convinced, here are some quotes to help you make up your mind:
Do you find these quotes funny?
“Angelina leaned forward as Sara pulled Miki back to her, “You know what they say about curiosity? That it stabbed the annoying biker girl over and over and over again until she spit up blood.”
― Shelly Laurenston, Pack Challenge
How about this one:
Forget he never wanted this in the first place. Forget he was convinced she might be clinically insane and definitely feral. The bottom line was, she ran. She didn’t even stop to shower. She woke up, saw Zach lying next to her, and took to the Texas hills. Not a good sign when one was just starting out in a relationship.”
― Shelly Laurenston, Pack Challenge
Or this one?:
“Would you like to join us my dear?”…
“Join you?” Irene asked, pulling her hand away from Van’s.
“In a friendly game of Risk.” He motioned to the table the two other uncles had set up.
Irene shook her head. “I don’t think you want to do that, sir.” It was the way she said it that had most of the family turning around to look at them.
“I don’t?” Verner questioned, his smirk never leaving.
“You don’t. Perhaps Monopoly or Life.”
“Are you afraid?” Volker questioned while sitting at the table and getting comfortable.
“No. But I have incredible luck with dice and I am ruthless. You will lose, gentlemen. I will destroy your lands, take your women, ravish your men, and make your children my slave labor. I will own every castle, house, and farm that is within my reach. I won’t be satisfied until I own all of it and you. I will destroy you all, gentlemen, and, to be quite blunt, I don’t think you can handle it.”
Van covered his mouth to keep from laughing out loud and he didn’t dare look at his sister. Verner stepped back, motioning to the table. “Now I must insist.”
“As you wish.” Irene sighed and stood. She glanced at Van and gave him a quick wink before turning back to his uncle. “I do hope you’re a ‘sobber,’ Mr. Van Holtz. Nothing I love more than the lamenting of the men I annihilate.”“I can’t believe you made him cry.”
“I did not. He just teared up a little.”
“Yeah. I think it was when you told him, ‘I now control your ports and own your manhood.”
― Shelly Laurenston, When He Was Bad
How about now?:
“Zach shoveled another spoonful of Fruit Loops cereal with milk into his mouth. “It is not possible!”
“How do you know? Just because there’s no proof to prove it, there’s no proof to disprove it either.”
“You’re trying to make me crazy, aren’t you?”
“Not at all.” Sara put her bowl down. “I’m just saying there could be bunny shifters.”
“There are no bunny shifters!”
Shaking her head she accused, “You’re a bunny bigot.”
Zach threw his spoon back in the near-empty bowl. “And there is no such thing as bunny bigots.”
― Shelly Laurenston, Pack Challenge
Last one…for now:
Miki held up a tennis ball, looked at Sara’s new Pack, and tossed it out into the forest away from the ongoing rave. They all watched it go, then they turned back to Miki.
“Okay. Go…”
Sara and Angelina slapped their hands over their friend’s mouth before the word “fetch” could come out of it.
They pulled her over to one of the food tables.
“Are you out of your ever-loving mind?! Everyone here but us is like Sara.” Angelina snapped.
“And after seeing them in action I’d rather not fuck with them!”
Miki gave that innocent smile. “It was just a little experiment.”
So, did you laugh your ass off? I sure as fuck did. I was laughing so hard when I added these quotes, so if you don’t find them remotely funny, then Shelly laurenston, and her Pack and Pride books, probably are not for you. If you like Alpha males AND Alpha Females who don’t take any shit, give as good as they get, are loud and lewd, then screw each other rabid, then, by all means, buy the first book Pack Challenge it is only $3.44 right now on Amazon.
Pack Challenge is the first book of the Magnus Pack Series and features Zach Sheridan and Sara Morrighan.
Zach is the next in line Alpha, and Sara is human working at a Biker Shop owned by Marrec. Sara was mauled by an animal when she was young, and her father was killed. Leaving her to the clutches of her evil grandmother. She walks with a limp, and is plagued by pain on a daily basis. A pain that is only getting worse as each day passes.
Zach and the Magnus Pack decide that NOW is the time to get to Sara and tell her who she really is. Her father was a magnus wolf, and so should she be. As the book goes on, you can’t help but love everybody. I really mean it. I love everybody. All the wolves are hot as hell, and all the females make me laugh until my stomach hurts. Just ask my husband. He often sits next to me on the couch while I’m reading, and when I burst out into fits of giggles he raises a brow at me and just shakes his head in utter bafflement.
[learn_more caption="Pack Challenge Blurb"] What’s an Alpha Male to do when he meets the Alpha Female of his dreams? Step one, hide all sharp objects. All Zach Sheridan ever wanted was to become Alpha Male of his Pack and be left alone. What he definitely didn’t need in his life was some needy female demanding his attention. What he never saw coming was the vicious, scarred female who not only demanded his attention but knew exactly how to get it. Sara Morrighan knew this was the best she could expect from her life. Good friends. A nice place to live. And a safe job. But when Zach rode into her small Texas town with his motorcycle club, Sara knew she wanted more. She knew she wanted him. But after one sexy encounter with her dream biker, everything is starting to change. Her body. Her strength. That new thing she’s doing with the snarling. Even her best friends are starting to wonder what’s going on with her. But this is only the beginning. Sara’s about to find out her life was meant for so much more. And Zach’s about to find true love with the one woman who makes him absolutely insane. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and strong violence.[/learn_more]
So saying, Sara, Miki and Angelina are all best friends, and have been since they were in grade school. They are crude, swear a lot, and are the most loyal friends to each other.

Miki and Conall’s book, GO FETCH, is one of my all time favorite books. I just love the Genius and the Viking.
Conall wants Miki. He has since the very first time he see’s her in Pack Challenge. Her pursues her with single minded intent. To the exclusion of all others, except for his right hand, and the shower head. Much to the bemusement and irritation of Zach when he get’s the water bills.
Miki fights her attraction to Conall. She is leary about Men, and doesn’t want to end up like her mother. Miki is a genius with an IQ of 175+. She is on the FBI watch list. She is geeky personified. She has no idea how to relate to people for the most part. She has a small group of core friends, and is about to be Doctor Miki Kendrick. Just as soon as she gets her dissertation out of the way, and then she can marry Troy. Safe and Boring–Troy. The future Mr. Miki Kendrick
I thoroughly enjoy watching Miki and Conall together. They never fail to make me laugh. Conall is so patient and understanding with Miki.
” I want you to do that to me.”
She didn’t look up from her laptop. “Do what,” she mumbled around the pop.
“Suck my cock like you’re sucking that ice pop.”
He is such a sweet and docile viking.
He leaned into her, his arms on either side, blocking her in. “Do as I tell you and put ‘em on.”
Miki cleared her throat and stepped into the shoes. She looked at him in the mirror. “Well, now what?”
He yanked her skirt up and ripped her panties off.
Miki Gasped as she held onto the dresser. Conall grabbed a condom from the pile next to his keys and change, and slipped it on. Then he grabbed Miki by her hips and slammed into her from behind.
“God, yes!”
He had one hand on her hip to hold her steady while he wrapped the other in her hair and pulled. “Open your eyes Miki.”
She looked into the mirror and their eyes locked in the reflection. “Watch me.”
His voice low and rough, he barely recognized it. “Watch me fuck you.”
Please excuse me while I fan myself. I need a moment to catch my breath over here.
[learn_more caption="Go Fetch Blurb"] How much trouble can one small female be to a modern-day shapeshifting Viking? Well.it really depends on local gun laws. Conall Vga-Feilan, direct descendent of Viking shifters, never thought he’d meet a female strong enough to be his mate. He especially didn’t think a short, viper-tongued human would ever fit the bill. But Miki Kendrick isn’t some average human. With an IQ off the charts and a special skill with weapons of all kinds, Miki brings the big blond pooch to his knees-and keeps him there. Miki’s way too smart to ever believe in love and she knows a guy like Conall could only want one thing from her. But with the Pack’s enemies on her tail and a few days stuck alone with the one man who makes her absolutely wild, Miki is about to discover how persistent one Viking wolf can be. This book has been previously published and has been revised from its original release. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and strong violence[/learn_more]

Angelina Santiago is the third of the crazy bitches to get a book, and she gets more than she bargains for when she is kidnapped by three tigers!!
Good thing Angelina has always been a cat person instead of a dog person eh?
It’s been a while since I read Here, Kitty, Kitty. I think I need a refresher =) I remember loving Nikolai, and his crazy brothers, and loving his
father and mother–who are the odd shifters out because they are monogamous. In the land of Tigers, it just isn’t done!
There are some funny scenes in Here Kitty Kitty. I especially laugh when I think of how Nik ends up in the zoo…Crazy bitches!!

I haven’t even started on her PRIDE series or her Dragons, which she writes under G.A Aiken. There are so many books to love. I have favorites though. One of the best things about Shelly is her characterization. I find that in every one of her books, I love everybody. They all have quirks and issues that make them real and unique. In her Pride Series, I am partial to Gwennie and Lock, Bo and Blayne and Jessie Ann and Smitty. The Pride books have more characters, and more books than the Magnus Pack trilogy. They are also separate. Maybe once or twice you will see or hear about the Magnus Pack, but for all intents, they are a world away.
Give her a try, I promise you won’t be sorry. But don’t say I didn’t warn you about all the swearing!

My recent post Land of Falling Stars Blog Tour ~ Excerpt & Giveaway
Sold! Yes I was laughing reading the quotes, and fit the criteria of "might be right for you". Guess I just added a lot of books to my TBR list. Thanks for the great tip off for a new author!
I loved this post! All those quotes made me laugh and long to reread. I absolutely love Laurenston's humor, no matter what pseudonym she's writing under.
My recent post Review: Belong To Me by Shayla Black
Bunny bigot. I remember that. LOL
Maybe I humbly suggest an alcoholic beverage as a wonderful prelude to these stories, particularly if one is a little unsure if they can handle these books? It does wonders to help suspend one's disbelief…
