Three reads already this year from one of my favorite authors? Yes, please. And keep ’em coming. If you’ve visited Badass Book Reviews lately, I’m sure my love affair with Garrett Leigh’s books is something you already know about. Angie’s Review – 4.5 stars – A
The first thing I do when I start a Garrett Leigh book is brace myself. I know it’s going to be a rough, angst-ridden ride that is going to exhaust me. But it’s a ride I’m willing to take, because I know it’s going to be worth it in the end.
Rented Heart was what I’ve come to love about Garrett Leigh – stellar characterization with the tortured men she’s become known for. And really, does it get any better than that? Liam has been coasting through life since the loss of his husband, and Zac swoops in at the perfect moment to give him the no strings attached night Liam is in desperate need of. But Liam forgot one little thing about himself; he doesn’t do no strings attached. This was quite insta-lovey for a Garrett Leigh book, but I have to say that it really works here. Both of these men are at just the right time in their lives to get caught up in the moment and fall. Zac is drawn to Liam’s brokenness and can’t help but be curious as to what the cause is, and Liam is chomping at the bit to know every detail about Zac’s life. I will say this was a bit more predictable than other books I’ve read from this author, but I didn’t care about that. I loved their story so much, and Liam’s acceptance of Zac and his unwillingness to lie about who Zac was to those he loved made me adore Liam even more. And while I loathed Zac’s circumstances, I could see so clearly how he’d end up there. Being inside his head killed me, but it was needed to know where Zac was coming from.
I loved this story about two men who find someone to love them just as they are when they need it most. This book was a bit of Pretty Woman with just a teensy bit of Big thrown in for a bit of fun. As always, I was left wanting more. Not because I don’t feel that things weren’t resolved, but because I am a greedy reader and I want more of these characters I’ve come to love. Rented Heart was another solid read from Garrett Leigh!

| About the Author |
Garrett Leigh is a British writer and book designer, currently working for Dreamspinner Press, Loose Id, Riptide Publishing, and Black Jazz Press. Her protagonists will always always be tortured, crippled, broken, and deeply flawed. Throw in a tale of enduring true love, some stubbly facial hair, and a bunch of tattoos, and you’ve got yourself a Garrett special.
When not writing, Garrett can generally be found procrastinating on Twitter, cooking up a storm, or sitting on her behind doing as little as possible. That, and dreaming up new ways to torture her characters. Garrett believes in happy endings; she just likes to make her boys work for it.
Garrett also works as a freelance cover artist for various publishing houses and independent authors under the pseudonym G.D. Leigh. For cover art info, please visit blackjazzpress.com.
