Book Summary:

Josslyn found perfection once, and she knows she’ll never find it again. Now widowed, she seeks the one thing her beloved husband couldn’t give her. Dominance. Lonely and searching for an outlet for her grief and wanting only a brief taste of the perfection she once enjoyed, she seeks what she’s looking for at an exclusive club that caters to people indulging in their most hedonistic fantasies. She never imagined that what she’d find is the one man who’s long been a source of comfort—and secret longing. Her husband’s best friend.

Dash has lived in an untenable position for years. In love with his best friend’s wife and unwilling to act on that attraction. He’d never betray his best friend. And so he’s waited in the wings, offering Joss unconditional support and comfort as she works past her grief, hoping for the day when he can offer her more.

When he finds her in a club devoted to the darker edges of desire, he’s furious because he thinks she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Until she explains in detail what it is she wants. What she needs. As realization sets in, he is gripped by fierce, unwavering determination. If she wants dominance, he is the only man who will introduce her to that world. He is the only man who will touch her, cherish her…love her. And the only man she’ll ever submit to.

Regina: I am a fan of your historical novels.  A very typical theme in historical romance novels is the scarred hero but your historical romance novels instead focus on a heroine who has been hurt in her past and her pain is a barrier to her becoming involved in a relationship.  Why the twist on the standard?

Maya BanksMaya: It’s no secret that I LOVE writing tortured heroines as opposed to writing a tortured hero. I know a lot of authors who love to write scarred or tortured HEROES but for me the emotional opportunities are so much more with a tortured heroine. Plus I’ve always been a bit of a rebel so I love twisting things around and putting a different spin on them 🙂

Regina: You write so many books and in a variety of genres! Do you have a preferred genre to write in?

Maya: No I actually don’t have a favorite. What I LOVE about my job is that I GET to write in multiple genres. It keeps it fresh and exciting for me. If I only had to write in one genre then I’d bore myself silly

Regina: Several of your fans want me to ask this question: Do you see yourself writing more historical romance novels each year?  Perhaps another historical romance series or maybe even a Western Romance series?

Maya: I definitely plan to continue writing historical romance. Just at a slower pace than I did in the beginning. I love Scottish historicals and at present have no plans to write a different historical setting.

Regina: Regardless of genre, your books have steam.  Do you have a writing process for your sexy, steamy scenes

Maya: My love scenes are driven by the characters and what they’re thinking and feeling at the time. For me, love scenes need to be emotional, strengthening the bond between the hero and heroine.

Regina: When you sit down to read, what are your favorite series, authors and/or genres? And as a writer of guilty pleasure novels, what is your guilty pleasure?

Maya: I hate the word guilty pleasure lol. Because for ME I have absolutely NO shame in my reading choices and don’t care who knows what I read. So I definitely don’t have any “guilty pleasures”

Regina: So if it is your ideal Friday night, what are you doing?

Maya: Relaxing at home with my family. Cooking an awesome meal or just enjoying take-out. I’m a total home body so any time I’m home with my family around me I’m happy.
