Synopsis from Goodreads: Skylar Reid is slowly adjusting to the powers that make her a Greater-Than; it’s the rest of her ”normal” life that’s too hard to handle. Her boyfriend is distant, and her mentor is obsessed with rescuing her sister from the producers of the Destiny drug. Then a secret Destiny lab pops up in Skylar’s town, and her best friend Calvin is accidentally injected. After spending years in a wheelchair, the drug gives Calvin the ability to walk– but could cause him to lose his mind. Can Skylar master her abilities to protect her friends before the danger she attracts destroys them?

Angie’s Review – 3.5 Skulls – B

Wild Sky, the second installment of the Night Sky series, pulls us back into Sky, Calvin, Dana, and Milo’s world. While the gang is still focused on finding Dana’s sister, Lacy, there are a lot of obstacles in their way with the repercussions of being a Destiny addict is at the center of it all. With this book, I think the series is finally gaining some momentum. Night Sky was very character driven; in this one, there was more of a balance with the characters and the plot driving the story. I had a hard time getting into it at first. Sky and Milo’s connection seems to have increased significantly since the first book, and it was a bit jarring for me. Their romance was more of a backdrop in the previous book, but there were times when it took center stage here, and I’m not sure the story was ready for that. I would have liked there to be more of a build. Calvin’s trademark humor and wit were here, and Dana’s intensity and hard-assness were present as well.

Once you get past the beginning, the pacing of the story really picks up, and it’s steady the entire way through. The authors gave us quite a few surprises in this one (there was even a ‘drop your Kindle while your jaw hits the floor’ moment,) and some characters I didn’t expect to see again popped up. We were also introduced to a new character who I think is going to play a big part in the books to come, and I am most excited to see him again! He’s going to add a lot of depth to the story and be a fountain of knowledge for Sky and the others.

While Wild Sky took a bit to get into, it was ultimately worth the read. I think once the series is underway, it’s going to become apparent why this book is so significant. If you’re a fan of Night Sky, you won’t want to miss this one. I’m excited to see what comes next!
