Review: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Book #1 – Daughter of Smoke and Bone Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Audiobook narrated by Khristine Hvam  D.G.’s Rating – 5 skulls: A This book is the beginning of a journey…a journey through the essence of hope and pain, full of wonderful imagery and a seemingly whimsical combination of words that envelopes you strongly and doesn’t let you go. The story is almost epic in its scope, seemingly simple while slowly transforming into mistakes as old as time: enmity that evolves into a never-ending war. We’ve experienced this story so many times [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Devil Said Bang by Richard Kadrey

Devil Said Bang by Richard Kadrey Book 4 in Sandman Slim Series Release date: August 28, 2012 Book provided by Edelweiss and the publisher AH’s Review – 4 Skulls – A- “Welcome to Hell. It’s just like high school but with more boredom and entrails.” I must confess, I have not read all the books in this series. I’ve read Sandman Slim and enjoyed it immensely, but I missed books 2 and 3. Having said that, I honestly feel that I really didn’t feel lost when I read Devil Said Bang. The author did an excellent job of recapping prior [ Read More of this Review ]

In fact, they were my very first alpha werewolf pair. Since my first encounter with Clay and Elena, I’ve wanted MORE! Review: Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione

Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione  Lords of Deliverance Book 1      AH’s Review – A    I’m a sucker for books that take Biblical themes and build upon them. Angels, demons, images of heaven and hell, obscure Biblical and apocryphal stories – I love it. Larissa Ione’s Eternal Rider gives the story a modern flavor. The series builds upon the author’s Demonica series and is best read after Sin Undone. Many of the Demonica character favorites appear in this spin-off series. Larissa Ione has superb storytelling skills. From the first page to the last, the book was [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand Book 2 of Unearthly series – expected publication date January 17, 2012 Book received from Netgalley and Harper Collins AH’s Review – Grade: 4 Stars – A That’s it! I’m in love! Two of the nicest young adult boyfriends star in Hallowed by Cynthia Hand. First, we have Tucker, a down-to-earth (no pun intended!) human boyfriend. I think every girl dreams of Tucker: He’s an all-round, nice guy. Athletic, a cowboy, outdoorsy, big-hearted – Tucker is wonderful. So dreamy. Then there’s Christian, an angel blood. Christian is also gorgeous, loyal, and caring. Christian jokes [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Angel's Blood by Nalini Singh

Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh Guild Hunter – Book 1 Book purchased from Borders     AH’s Review – 5 Stars – A Why didn’t I read these books sooner? I was very excited to be starting off the Guild Hunters series by Nalini Singh. I enjoy this author’s writing style. Her descriptions evoke images in my mind and it felt like I was watching a movie with great cinematography rather than reading a book. Take the example of the Archangel’s Tower. Our heroine Elena has a townhouse with a view of the Archangel’s Tower. She can watch the [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh

So, I finished reading Archangel’s Blade, which is Dmitri and Honor’s book. It’s going to be tough writing a review that is spoiler free as the premise of their love is rooted in the old. So, let’s start by talking about Nalini. She has such a seductive style. Her words are lyrical and poetic, descriptive without being too wordy. It’s tough to explain unless you have read any of her previous novels. I, personally, have only read her Guild Hunter series, though I do own the first three Psy-Changeling.  I tried reading those, but I just wasn’t [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Dark Kiss of the Reaper by Kristen Painter

This is a wonderfully sweet Paranormal Romance Novel. Grade:B+ Oh, and so you know, I bought Dark Kiss of the Reaper from Amazon for 2.99. What a steal!     My Review Kristen Painter has a simple, beautifully poetic way of writing.  Her words captivated me from the start of Dark Kiss of the Reaper. Her cover artist is also fantastic! As an Angel of Death, Azrael provides Mercy to those souls who lived life by a strong moral code.  Sara, our leading lady is busting her ass working two jobs after her divorce. She is determined to make [ Read More of this Review ]
