Series Review: The Magnus Pack by Shelly Laurenston

How to tell if Author Shelly Laurenston is for you… Are you: easily offended by swearing? Loud females? Alpha Males? Explicit sex scenes done tastefully :snickers:? If you answered yes, to any of those questions, then you might want to pass Shelly Laurenston by. If you find you laugh at crude humor, silly antics, over the top swearing, and absurdly male men, then read her books. They are fucking fantastic. In an interview we just conducted with Shelly, I asked her about being funny. She says: “Depends who you talk to. Some people find me funny, some people want [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh

So, I finished reading Archangel’s Blade, which is Dmitri and Honor’s book. It’s going to be tough writing a review that is spoiler free as the premise of their love is rooted in the old. So, let’s start by talking about Nalini. She has such a seductive style. Her words are lyrical and poetic, descriptive without being too wordy. It’s tough to explain unless you have read any of her previous novels. I, personally, have only read her Guild Hunter series, though I do own the first three Psy-Changeling.  I tried reading those, but I just wasn’t [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Monday {Late} ~ Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassins

The Elemental Assassin series is a favorite of mine, and AH here at Badass Book Reviews. It combines an ass-kicking female heroine, who has a ‘no remorse’ attitude towards killing those she deems worthy of killing. She has a set of morals {I know, how can an assassin have morals right? But she does. She won’t ever kill children, and those who contract her are deeply researched by her handler, so that the job is on the up and up} Jennifer Estep crafted a cool world full of Vampires, Giants, Dwarves, Elementals, The Mob, (Yes, the Mob) 3-dimensional characters {Well, [ Read More of this Review ]

Without further ado: This week I am WoW’ing on The Dragon Who Loved Me by G.A Aiken.   Dragon Kin #5 Release Date : September 6, 2011   I was raised for battle. Feature Author Monday and Giveaway ~ Stacia Kane

Stacia Kane is one of my favorite authors. I received an advanced readers copy of Unholy Ghosts before it came out in May 2010.  It was such an interesting world — full of complex characters with real flaws and real emotions. I wasn’t sure how a drug addicted heroine would rate up there with the Eve Dallas and Kate Daniels of the world, but there is something so compelling about Chess aka Cesaria Putnam. In Book two, Unholy Magic, Chess was a mess. She made bad decisions. It was very dark, seductive and sinister. It’s certainly not a light and [ Read More of this Review ]

The Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh ~ An Overall Review

The Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh   I decided to try something a bit different and do an overall series review before getting more in depth with each book installment.  I will be posting separate reviews for each novel as well.  I just wanted to get my feelings onto cyber paper about the series as a whole. Have you ever wondered what an Angels wings feel like?  How they look in the shining sun, or during a dawn flight?  Ever wonder what prey smell like to a hunter?  Nalini Singh amazes me with her vivid imagery. The way she [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Monday ~ Pamela Clare ~

I have been in love with fiction since I discovered Misty of Chincoteague at the age of 9. By the time I was 12, Id read all of Marguerite Henrys books, along with the entire Nancy Drew series, the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Ayn Rand. Already at that age, I knew I wanted to be a novelist when I grew up. Then, when I was 15, something extraordinary happened. I discovered romance novels. The first romance I ever read was The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss, followed soon after by Shanna and Rosemary [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Monday ~ Sydney Croft

Feature Author Monday is here!  Already, can you believe it?  This week we are featuring Sydney Croft.  If you know the genre at all, you would know that Sydney Croft is a pseudonym for Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler.   Sydney Croft is the alter-ego of two published authors who came together to blend their very different writing interests into adventurous tales of erotic paranormal fiction. Together, they developed a world where people with extraordinary abilities, like the power to control storms, could live and work with others like them. The series has been described as “Erotica meets [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Mondays (FAM) ~ Shelly Laurenston aka G.A. Aiken

Feature Author Mondays are a new thing here at Badass Books –  I know it’s not a new thing in book blog land–, but…I’m excited to kick off Feature Author Mondays (F.A.M)  with one of my laugh out loud favorites, SHELLY LAURENSTON aka G.A. AIKEN. Originally from Long Island, New York, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shelly Laurenston has resigned herself to West Coast living which involves healthy food, mostly sunny days, and lots of guys not wearing shirts when they really should be. Shelly Laurenston is also The New York Times Bestselling author G.A. Aiken, who [ Read More of this Review ]

I am not a suck up!, authors Ilona Andrews

But today, I want to talk about one of my favorite author duo’s.  Ilona Andrews.  A husband and wife writing team of Urban Fantasy, which I think is just all kinds of awesome.  I would love if my husband shared my love of books and wanted to write with me, but alas, twas not meant to be. There could be minor spoilers, but I tried to keep it spoiler free! So, onto the goods.  Well, first I should point out that I don’t personally know Ilona and Gordon, aside from being a blog stalker obsessed fan reader {OK facebook stalker, [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Monday ~ Carolyn Crane

Ever pick up a book and just think, “Wow, does this book sound…odd” But you figure, what the heck, you need something different, and this sure sounds like it fits the bill.  Not only is the book odd, but it’s weird in the most fantastic way possible, it was an extremely interesting, well thought out, and twisty read!  Author Carolyn Crane has some serious issues I tell you.  In order to come up with this psychological hit squad, and this world filled with mind bendingly awesome characters, she has to be half off her rocker I tell you!  I jest.  [ Read More of this Review ]

Feature Author Monday ~ Julie James

I have to say that I found a great new to me author!  Julie James writes contemporary Romance, and let me tell you, she is a great writer!  The first book I read was Practice Makes Perfect, then I devoured her next two novels Something About You, and A Lot Like Love.  She has an easy to read writing voice, and great characterization.  Julie is also a graduate of Law School, and you can tell that she knows what she is talking about in her novels. Her Hero’s are scrumptious, her heroines are strong and capable, and they don’t have [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Hard Evidence by Pamela Clare

Hard Evidence by Pamela Clare I-Team Novel #2 Quick, Quick Review: Again, well written, fast paced, interesting and dangerous. Tortured, Alpha Male Hero, Strong, Compassionate Female Lead. I liked both Julian and Tessa. Both have scarred pasts, secrets and have trouble connecting with others. Pamela Clare has a gift for writing likeable characters and strong plots. There are some very hot scenes between Tessa and Julian. I like all the characters and enjoy seeing characters from previous books. Like Senator Reece and Kara I like all the I-Team members, even Tom, despite his being an asshole   [ Read More of this Review ]
