ARC Mini Reviews: Undeadly, Stray Souls, and Blood Bond

You know how sometimes you get so excited when the new ARCs are released that you just have to request them all… but then you have to find enough time to read and review them?  That’s the boat I found myself in this month, so to catch up, I’m sharing three mini reviews about the ARCs I most recently read. Undeadly by Michele Vail Book #1 in the Reaper Diaries series Publication Date: 27 Nov 2012 ARC Provided by Netgalley and Harlequin Teen Synopsis from Goodreads: The day I turned 16, my boyfriend-to-be died. I brought him back to life. Then [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Hanging by a Thread by Sophie Littlefield

ARC Review:  Hanging by a Thread by Sophie Littlefield Book provided by NetGalley and Random House Release Date: September 11, 2012 AH’s Review – 3 Stars – C+ I was quite excited to get an advance reader copy of Hanging by a Thread. I loved Sophie Littlefield’s Aftertime series and I have her other books on my bloated to-read list as well. While I liked Hanging by a Thread, it was a bit disappointing for me. Perhaps it was because it was nothing at all like Aftertime. Perhaps it was because it was a young adult book and some of [ Read More of this Review ]

New Release Review: A Bad Day for Mercy (Stella Hardesty #4) by Sophie Littlefield

A Bad Day for Mercy (Stella Hardesty #4) by Sophie Littlefield 5 Stars/ Grade A+ *Purchased Audio Book from Audible.com* Regina’s Review This one is my favorite in the series so far.  Except, I keep saying that with regard to each subsequent Stella Hardesty book that I read.  But I really mean it every time I say that! I listened to the audio version of this book (again) and loved it.  There are so many laugh out loud moments and brilliant “Stellaisms” and general world observations.  Reading this book makes me realize that Sophie Littlefield must be such an amazing person, funny [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Bad Day for Scandal by Sophie Littlefield

Bad Day for Scandal (Stella Hardesty #3) by Sophie Littlefield *audio book purchased from audible.com* Regina’s Rating: 5 Skulls; Grade A When I think of Stella Hardesty one word comes to mind:  BADASS.  Now, lest you think I am taking advantage of marketing my blog in the text of this review – let me prove to you why Stella is so gosh darned BADASS. At the age of 50 she redefined her body from chubby to svelte, powerful and able to endure a lot of physical activity. At the age of 49 she killed (in defense and out of anger) [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Bad Day for Sorry by Sophie Littlefield

Bad Day for Sorry by Sophie Littlefield Audio book purchased from audible.com Regina’s Rating: 4.5 Skulls, Grade A Avenging angels in books come in a few different forms, but usually they are  super hot young things either male or female.  They are highly educated and have top of the line clothes.  Well, not in Bad Day for Sorry.  Bad Day for Sorry is not a typical adventure or thriller book.  The main character is a fifty year old widow who owns a sewing notions shop and runs a side business of helping women safely leave abusive relationships.  Stella, the main character, [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Bad Day for Pretty by Sophie Littlefield

Bad Day for Pretty by Sophie Littlefield Audio book purchased from audible.com Regina’s Review – 4 Skulls – A- I love these books!  When I read this author’s, Sophie Littlefield, Aftertime series I was blown away and thought this author gets people and their motivations and writes about them so well.  I could not imagine she would top the Aftertime series, but …. I think the Sorry/Stella series is my favorite of Sophie Littlefield’s. Stella, the main character in this series, is a 50 year old widow who likes drinking Jack Daniels before she goes to bed and owns a sewing notions shop [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Rebirth by Sophie Littlefield

Rebirth by Sophie Littlefield Book 2 in the Aftertime series Book Purchased from Book Depository **Note – May contain mild spoilers from book one. If you haven’t read Aftertime yet, what are you waiting for?   AH’s Review – 4 stars – B+ When I finished reading Aftertime, I was left with a sense of hope. Cass, Ruthie, and Smoke were a family. The world was beginning to show signs of Rebirth: young seedlings were starting to sprout. Good things don’t last too long in this world that was destroyed by biological warfare and a disease that turned [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield

4.5 stars Grade: A Goodreads Blurb about Aftertime   A little disclaimer here – I am not a fan of zombie books. I do not actively seek them out. I’m squeamish. I tend to shy away from undead creatures that are afflicted with rotting body parts. (Why is it that their teeth seem to never fall out?) Zombies are not, and never could be, as seductive as vampires. Zombies just don’t have the muscular physique of the average were. Zombies just aren’t attractive – and definitely not sexy. Imagine my surprise when I decided that I liked this book. [ Read More of this Review ]
