ARC Review: Reflected in You by Sylvia Day

ARC Review: Reflected in You by Sylvia Day Book 2 in Crossfire Series Release Date: October 23, 2012 Book provided by Penguin Group AH’s Review – 4 skulls – A- “Gideon woke up ready to conquer the world and he liked to start that domination with me. How lucky was I?” I’ve added Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series to my “guilty pleasures” shelf. I absolutely adored Reflected in You. It was even better than Bared to You. Reflected in You is the continuing story of Eva Tramell, a wealthy young New York socialite and her stunningly gorgeous millionaire lover Gideon Cross. [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Deadworld by J.N. Duncan Book 1 in Jackie Rutledge series Kobo Free download July 2011 AH’s Review – 3 Skulls – C+ Deadworld started off slowly for me and had this book not been part of a reading challenge, I may have abandoned it. In a way, I’m glad that I made it through – the last third of the book made up for the beginning. Deadworld is the story of FBI agent Jackie Rutledge. Jackie and her partner Laurel investigate a grisly murder scene. Laurel senses that something is off about the murder scene. Laurel fears for Jackie’s [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

ARC Review: Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard Book 1: Something Strange and Deadly Book provided by Edelweiss and HarperTeen Release Date: July 24, 2012 AH’s Review – 5 Skulls – A That was exhilarating! Something Strange and Deadly is a young adult novel with a feisty, unconventional heroine. Something Strange and Deadly was an enjoyable read. Set in Philadelphia during the late 1880’s the book captures that era’s proper Victorian decorum. Gowns, corsets, parasols, gloves, chaperones, and tea are a part of this world. Meanwhile the Dead are on the loose, an imminent threat to the population. The [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo

How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie De Bartolo Regina’s Review: 5 stars Grade: A Book purchased from Amazon How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo  is one of my favorite reads for 2011. It moved me emotionally and I simply could not put it down. I could say I loved it because the book is beautifully written.  Or I could say that the book is a favorite because the dialogue is incredibly witty and funny. Yes, that is all true.  But that is not why it affected me so deeply – this book is so powerful  [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Something Secret This Way Comes by Sierra Dean

I won this book Yippee!!     Erika’s Review Won from Sierra Dean! Alright all, my gut reactions, you ready? 3.5/5 grade B- I have personal issues. You should know that by now if you follow me or my blog at all. There are very few things in books that turn me off. Two such things are cliffhangers—and triangles+. I was hesitant to start reading Something Secret This Way Comes, because I had heard, and read that there was more than one love interest. Still, the cover is badass, then I won a twitter contest and blam, I owned the [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Goddess with a Blade by Lauren Dane

Erika’s Review Grade: B+ This was my first Lauren Dane read and I can say that I’ll be taking a closer look at her back list fairly soon. Goddess with a Blade was an entertaining read, full of Egotistical, Alpha Vampires and Power infused, snarky females. The premise was interesting. A Goddess chosen -human female- who was raised by vampires. Rowan is a Hunter. A Hunter’s job is to find and slay rogue vampires who break the Treaty. The law clearly states -Do not Kill Humans-. Pretty much, If you kill them, the Hunters kill you. Seems clear [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Feast by Merrie Destefano

Sounds good right?  It should be better, and I hope some more editing before the release will help.   Erika’s Review Rating :  D+ -  or about 2.5 out of 5 stars. The writing style was nice, I liked how Merrie Destefano writes.  Her words are poetic, and lyrical.  She paints a vivid picture.  But this picture just didn’t work for me.  I thought that the idea of this novel is cool, but it needs more polishing to really shine. I had a very hard time with this novel.  I’m not even sure how to start this review. [ Read More of this Review ]
