Oldies But Goodies: Envy by Sandra Brown and Present Danger by Susan Andersen

Today’s oldies are in the romantic suspense genre. The covers are horrible and you might find some outdated technology but those are the only cons. Otherwise, the books are really, really good. Envy by Sandra Brown First Published: 1999 Genre: Romantic Suspense Available in Ebook, Paperback and Audiobook When New York publisher Maris Matherly Reed receives a tantalizing manuscript from someone identified only as P.M.E., its blockbuster potential-and perhaps something else-compels her to meet its author. On an eerie, ruined cotton plantation on a remote Georgia island she finds Parker Evans, a man concealing his identity and his past. Maris [ Read More of this Review ]

Release Date Review: Crewel by Gennifer Albin

AH’s Review – 4 Skulls – A- All of her life Adelice has been taught to hide her “gift.” In Adelice’s world, all young women are tested to see if they have the ability to become a Spinster, a woman who is able to weave the fabric of life. The whole premise of this book is intriguing. Imagine a room full of Spinsters operating special looms and creating life, weather, everything. Occasionally, “mistakes” are discovered and they are ripped out, vanishing without a trace. Spinsters lead very privileged lives. They are “retrieved” from the general population, taken to Coventry for [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Endgame (Sirantha Jax #6) by Ann Aguirre

ARC Review: Endgame (Sirantha Jax #6) by Ann Aguirre *ARC received from ACE/Penguin* Regina’s Rating: 4 stars/Grade A Blurb: Regina’s Review: Waiting to start this book was like a blessing and a curse.  I was very excited to have an ARC from the publisher but I knew that every page I read would bring me closer to the end of Sirantha Jax’s world.  I shouldn’t have been torn.  Aguirre writes it brilliantly.  Endgame will not disappoint readers and fans of the Sirantha Jax series.  This review is filled with emotional reactions and no spoilers I promise.  I will just say [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Pies and Prejudice by Ellery Adams

Pies and Prejudice by Ellery Adams Book borrowed from local library Christal’s Review – 5 Skulls – A This book was absolutely enchanting. Contrary to what the title might have you believe, this isn’t a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with pies. Instead we get a heroine coming into her own mixed with a murder mystery, sprinkled with some romance, and topped with a little magic. The characters were kooky and endearing, the setting was charming, and the magic was used just enough to be intriguing. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Ella Mae has [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews

Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews Book purchased from Book Depository AH’s Review – 4 Skulls – A- The Kate Daniels series is one of Badass Book Reviews favorite series. I thought I would try something different with this review. I had a lot of thoughts to organize and I thought it best just to note them in a kind of point form. AH’s Initial Thoughts – Honestly, I never really thought a lot about Andrea when I was reading the Kate Daniels books. Maybe I’m just a bad fan, but she never really made that much of an impression on [ Read More of this Review ]

Arc Review: Tell The Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt

Tell The Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt *Thanks to Edelweis and Random House for a copy of this book* Rating:  5 stars/Grade A+ Blurb:  Regina’s Review: I am not a reader that willing walks into a tear jerker or an emotionally evocative book knowingly.  Why?  I am silly sensitive person that gets completely enmeshed in the world created by writers and I can’t let go of that world once I am in it.  I walked into Tell The Wolves I’m Home understanding that it was a powerful book dealing with death and grief, but I was not prepared for how [ Read More of this Review ]

ARC Review: Whispers Under Ground (#3 Peter Grant) by Ben Aaronovitch

Whispers Under Ground (#3 Peter Grant) by Ben Aaronovitch *Received E-Galley from Edelweis and Del Ray* Regina’s Rating: 4 stars/Grade A: Blurb: Damn, I love this series.  And damn I love these characters – -Peter, Lesley, Molly, Nightengale and even the little dog Toby.  Rarely does an urban fantasy book feel new.  There is something so easy going but yet scary about the world Mr. Aaronovitch has created.  It is layers of normal society on top of layers of an unknown magical community.  These communities co-exist and sometimes collide.  This story begins right off from where Moon Over Soho left off.  Lesley and  Peter (Why do I want to type [ Read More of this Review ]

Review: Grimspace by Ann Aguirre

Grimspace by Ann Aguirre Book 1 – Sirantha Jax Book purchased at used book store AH’s Review – 5 Skulls – A What an awesome book! I was reminded of all of my favorite science fiction shows, the ones with the “rag tag” crews, the beat up spaceships, and the insectoid alien creatures. A little Star Trek, a little Andromeda, a little Battlestar Galactica. Grimspace is all of that and more. More – because of the fascinating worlds that we get to visit and because it is great science fiction. Grimspace is an exciting book. There is a lot of action and [ Read More of this Review ]
