Blog Intent & Review Policies

Hello blog readers!

This is a personal book reading blog.  We do not get paid.  The entries here are our opinions on books we read.  We read for pleasure, escaping kids, and for fun.  We blog because it’s interesting and gives us something to do and share with other like minded readers about the books. We get ARC books from, Edelweiss, and from authors and publishers requests  and we buy the rest.  Occasionally we win an ARC Contest from an author or other sites like Library Thing.

Feel free to start discussions on books and posts, but please remember that we are human and that these are our opinions.  You are entitled to your opinions too, just let’s be civil if we disagree!

If you are an author reading a review about your book, please know that opinions expressed are not about YOU personally.  They are about your novel.  We try very hard to be honest in our reviews, but also respectful of the craft.  If you have any issue with anything we post, please contact us one of us through this site.

Review Policy:  If you are an Indie Author/Self Pub Author please read this Snarky Post on what to do or not do

Badass Book Reviews accepts review requests in the Romantic Suspense, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Steampunk, Fantasy and some Contemporary Romance Genres. I read some Erotica, but it’s not my preferred reading. I accept requests from Independent Publishers, Large Publishers and Self published authors. I try not to accept more than I can read, so if I decline please don’t be offended.

While we accept paperback and hardback copies, we prefer to read in E-Format. {I usually use my Kindle (Epub and Mobi)}

“We accept digital galleys/ARCs for review. Our preferred method of receiving e-galleys is through NetGalley, where we are a listed Review Organization Accepting NetGalley Titles.”

Badass Book Reviews is an honest review site, We do try to be respectful, but if we don’t like a book, or parts of a book, we will say it. Please don’t send us hate mail if we post a negative review of your book. Try to remember that we are reviewing your book/work, and not you personally.

  1. I would like to make a suggestion on your review policy. I spent about 15 minutes reading everything on your blog to see if my authors’ were a fit. I understand you get many requests and would like to have your blog information read before someone submits a review request. After I decided you were a good fit for two of my authors who have book tours beginning the end of October, and I began to fill out the form, I got to the publisher box and in tiny letters you have “we do not accept self-published authors at this time”. While I’m confused why you would NOT accept self-pubbed authors, it would be nice if you put that on top in bigger letters. Had I seen that, I wouldn’t have spent the time I did reading everything over on your blog. You are the second one that I spent the time on this afternoon, only to find that you want only published authors. It would be helpful for us publicist to know that information up front. Thank you.

  2. My new urban fantasy novel Known Devil will be published by Angry Robot Books on January 28th. It is the third book in my “Haunted Scranton” series, following Hard Spell and Evil Dark. Set in an alternate universe where the supernatural is real and everybody knows it, the books feature Detective Sergeant Stan Markowski of the Scranton PD’s Occult Crimes Unit.

A street war between two vampire criminal gangs has erupted in Scranton. The prize: the turf to sell Slide, a new street drug that, unlike any other, can addict supernatural creatures. If that’s not enough for Stan to deal with, somebody just blew up the wizard who was head of the local supernatural community. Then there’s the upcoming local election, with a well-funded group of extreme right-wingers trying to take over the city government by hook or by crook.

A perfect storm of supernatural strife is descending on Scranton. Stan Markowski and his vampire partner Karl Renfer find themselves in the thick of it – as usual.

Digital copies of the book are expected to be out next week – I’d be happy to send you one. Netgalley will have it, too. I am also amenable to an interview, guest post, and/or book giveaway.

Here’s a link to the publisher’s page for the book:

    Name: Pam Kesterson
    Book Title: Eternal Infinite
    Genres: Paranormal Romance
    Publication Date: July 8, 2013

Book Blurb: Eternal Infinīte is a heroic fantasy that combines romance and adventure in a supernatural setting. This is the first book in the Infinite Series.

The secret is not living forever. It’s knowing you do. Changed from better to best.

Shenser brings Saidi back from another realm while she lies in a coma. He escorts her in to a new reality after her identity is taken away and she is left for dead.

While in a coma the Infinites are gathered up from around the world and thrown into prison camps. This group of people never die because they have accessed the secret of eternal life.

Later Saidi becomes horrified to find the Infinītes enslaved in brutality. She unleashes their exposure and the motivation of their hostile and cruel captivity.

Vampires move over. Finally there’s a book that you don’t have to suck blood to live forever.

Find out more in this gripping beginning of the Infinīte Series.

  5. Good afternoon,

My name is Kylie Hallet and I represent Velocity House Publishing. Your dedicated reviews have captured my attention.

The late Louis Masterson was the author of eighty-three international best-selling novels in the Morgan Kane series, which have sold over 20 million copies worldwide thus far. Without Mercy has just been translated and released in the United States.

The story of Morgan Kane has already caught the eye of the film industry, and is in the process of becoming major motion picture. I invite you to participate in an exclusive review process for Without Mercy.

Because of your ability to reach readers as well as the quality of your past reviews, we would very much appreciate it if you would be willing to review Without Mercy.

If you are interested we would like to send you one of only 1000 physical copies being printed.

Please contact us at your earliest convenience. I look forward to your reply.

  6. Hi!

I'm the Director of PR & Marketing for Tell-Tale Publishing, and we'd love to schedule a review with your site for author Sherry Ficklin's ( book BORN OF BLOOD (Urban Fantasy). We're hoping to schedule a review sometime between October 10 and October 21. Here's the book blurb:

***Palmetto Moon, Book 1, Born of Blood is due for release on October 9th 2011 from Tell-Tale Publishing.***

A young mother has vanished without a trace and Sophie D'Angelo has been hired to solve the cold case that left police stumped. Tensions are high between the local cops and the newly 'out of the coffin' vampire community, landing Sophie smack in the middle of the toughest mystery she's ever faced and in the middle of a possible civil war. Her only allies are her loud, overbearing Italian family and her ex-fiancee turned-vampire, Caleb, who shares her house, her business, and generally gets on her nerves. If he wasn't already dead, she'd probably kill him.

As if that wasn't enough, Sophie has become the fixation of a twisted killer who is leaving a trail of bodies straight to her door.

Can Sophie uncover the truth behind the strange disappearance and unmask her stalker before she, or someone she loves, becomes his next victim?

    Thank you!!!
